The official launch of Cornwall Golf was held at St Enodoc Golf Club on Monday 2nd March.
The launch was a celebration, with the Cornwall Golf Union and Cornwall Ladies Golf Association coming together to begin the new organisation Cornwall Golf Limited.
County officials, Golf Club Manager's and Club Representatives were invited to the launch, which included an 18 hole shotgun start event on the Holywell course, followed by a buffet lunch and presentations from the Cornwall Golf Chair Caroline Hume-Kendall and Cornwall Golf Operations Manager Simon Wood.
The golf was a four ball betterball off the green tees on the Holywell course at St Enodoc, which was fantastic that Men and Women played a course off the same set of tees. Winning the Cornwall Golf launch event was the Cornwall Men's and Cornwall Women's Team Captains, Adam Bridgewater (Launceston) and Pauline Clifton (West Cornwall), who combined brilliantly for a winning score of 44 points. This was enough for a 2 point win over the second place team of Nathan Gilpin (Perranporth) and Matt Double (Porthpean) on 42 points. Gilpin and Double came in second place on countback from the third place pairing of Stephen Hughes and Ryan Eddy from Cape Cornwall, also with 42 points.

After a delicious cold meat buffet, the Cornwall Golf Chair Caroline Hume-Kendall thanked everyone who attended the day and also thanked everyone from the Cornwall Golf Union and Cornwall Ladies Golf Association who were instrumental in this historic occasion.
Caroline mentioned that the seed to unify was planted back in 2012 when Jean Reed, the CLCGA County Captain called a meeting with the CGU Vice-President David Inch. Also in attendance were Jan Harrison, Pat Crowson, Gerry Fitter and Peter Batty. During this period, the Cornwall Golf Partnership was formed in 2009 and create a working collabration between the CGU, CLCGA and Cornwall PGA. In 2023 the Unification Working Group was created. It’s been a long journey of discussion, planning and implementation. Thank you to all those who were involved in the early years and in more recent years.
Caroline highlighted special thanks to Kate Drakeley, who was then CLCGA Secretary and Alan Creber, who was then the CGU Vice-President. The work assumed by the Unification Working Group was extensive. Caroline said she was grateful for their time and commitment and would particularly like to recognise the Unification Chair, Carole Waights, without whom we would not be here today. The unprecedented turn out for the votes for unification and the 100% approval is a credit to their hard work.
Caroline welcome England Golf Board Member, Andrew Clotworthy, thanking Andrew for his involvement in the early stages of the unification process and also thanked the CGU President, Martin Edwards, for his long service to golf in Cornwall and wish him well in his retirement.
Caroline went on to introduce the Cornwall Golf Board to everyone present with the first Cornwall Golf President - Nikki Hodge and the Cornwall Golf Vice-President - Chris Pountney, as well as the Cornwall Golf Board Members, David West (Finance), Simon Harper (Competitions), Carole Waights (Governance), Peter Brooks (Performance and Development) and Max Stockwell (Communications).
Caroline also thanks Operations Manager Simon Wood and Performance and Development Manager Richard Bunch for all their work over the last few months.
After Caroline's speech, the Cornwall Golf President Nikki Hodge spoke about her thanks to Caroline for all her work in the lead up to the launch of Cornwall Golf and wished everyone involved a successful year of golf ahead and the exciting times for the game of golf in Cornwall moving forward for 'One and All'.
