Community Golf Instructor course at China Fleet

Cornwall Golf is continuing to lead the way across the country with the Community Golf Instructor programme, having a further ten newly qualified Community Golf Instructors working across Cornwall.

The Community Golf Instructor training programme has been set up to create a dedicated new workforce to help grow the game in communities across the British Isles, with the focus of getting golf into schools, communities and more beginner activity into golf clubs

The latest Community Golf Instructor course was held at China Fleet Golf Club on Sunday 1st March and was delivered by Alex MacGregor, who was a junior golfer in Cornwall before turning Professional and moving to Surrey to progress his coaching career.

The ongoing relationship between Cornwall Golf's Performance and Development Manager Richard Bunch and the England Golf workforce and volunteer team at Woodhall Spa created the opportunity to arrange a further CGI course in Cornwall.

This was the fifth CGI course the county has hosted and there are now over 40 qualified Community Golf Instructors in Cornwall.

Richard Bunch comments "I have emphasised on many occasions that CGI's would and will be a game changer for the game of golf. Over the last three years, we have had CGI's trained at 20 of our golf clubs and facilities including on the Isles of Scilly. Through the Community Golf Instructor network, this initiative offers support for PGA Professionals in the county to grow the game and increasing golf participation within schools, in the community and at golf clubs throughout Cornwall."
