As players and organisers woke up on Sunday (19th October 2025) to strong winds and heavy rain it looked as though it was going to be a long and uncomfortable day for our Junior Tour members through the final round of the 2026 tour. Thankfully an hour before the first tee time the skies cleared and the sun broke through and the winds eased. Who would of thought it would be warm enough for golfers to be in shirt sleeves. It was almost as though Lelant and Hayle had its own micro climate as the West Cornwall course was bathed in warm sunshine.
The course was in great condition and with the Lelant church providing the backdrop to the first hole, competitors were indeed just in short sleeves hiitong their opening tee shots. There was much to play for with the final order of merit positions to be decided.

Rory Judd - 0-28Hcp Cat winner - Tees of the 11th @ WCGC
There was enough of a breeze on the course to make playing conditions tougher than the bright blue skies implied. West Cornwall's Rory Hudson won the scratch prize scoring 32 stableford points. Another West Cornwall member Rory Judd (pictured above) had a very solid round scoring 39 points to take the 0-28Hcp category. New tour member Evelyn Lovell from Carlyon Bay had a brilliant score of 24 points in the 9-hole 29-54Hcp category. Ella Harrison again West Cornwall won the Golf Access category with a net 41. She has attained the top banding now and will be attaining her first handicap shortly.
Each of the category winners were presented with a £50.00 voucher from the CGU President Martin Edwards with the second and third placed competitors receiving £30.00 and £20.00 vouchers respectively.
The tour runs an order of merit through the six rounds and the winners were again presented with their trophies by Martin Edwards. The winners of the five categories form the 2025 tour are:

Richard Bunch the Cornwall Golf Development Officer and tour organiser said "We have been building the tour over the past two years as we recognise that we need to give our junior golfers the opportunity to play competitive golf and develop their skills. We have 76 boys and girls signed up to the tour and we want to grow the event still further. The Junior Tour platform is perfect for player progression. To give an example 5 of our tour players started in the Golf Access category this season and finished with handicaps under 28 playing in the main 18 hole group. The lowest has attained a handicap of 17. The introduction of the scratch element to the tour has also proved to be a positive, attracting the better players and offering a competitive platform."
