The past weekend saw three Cornish players make the long journey to the home of England Golf in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire to represent Cornwall at the England Golf Champion of Champions events, all played over 36 holes on the renowned and tough Hotchkin Course.
The three were Oban Webber (St Mellion) as winner of the 2025 Boys County Championships, Ian Ashenden (China Fleet) as winner of the 2025 Seniors County Championships and Louis Archer (St Enodoc) as winner of the 2025 Men's County Championships.
First up on the Saturday was Webber, who also qualified to play in this event in 2024, did very well to finish tied for 10th position with rounds of 75 & 77 for a 36 hole +6 total of 152. This was 8 shots behind winner Leo Cahi from Sussex.
In the Seniors event, Ian Ashenden also finished in a tied for 10th position after an excellent 2nd round of 1 under par 72 combined with a first round 79, resulting in a 5 over par total of 151. Ashenden finished 8 shots behind winner Sandy Twynholm from Northumberland.
In the Men's event, Archer had rounds of 80 and 80 to finish in 21st place. The winner of the Men's Champion of Champions was James Glenn from Durham on a -5 total.
