Norris & Ashenden Qualify for Matchplay - English Seniors
Well done to County Seniors Team members Guy Norris (Trevose) and Ian Ashenden (China Fleet) as both have made it through two rounds of qualifying in the English Senior Men's Amateur Championship at Burhill GC, Surrey and now move on to the matchplay stages.
Norris put in an exceptional performance to finish tied third alongside England Seniors International Danny Holmes (Rochester & Cobham). Norris returned rounds of 69 and 70 for a 1 under par total of 139 after rounds of 69 and 70 and . Norris and Holmes were just 2 shots behind tied top qualifiers Steve Sansome (Rothley Park) and Gareth Bradley (Bramhall)
Meanwhile Ashenden played steady golf to finish on 145 with rounds of 72 and 73.
The players with the 32 lowest scores after the stroke play rounds qualify for the matchplay stage and you will be able to follow this here
Tomorrow (Wednesday) Ashenden will face Neill Hickson (Ringway) at 9.001m and half an hour later Norris takes on Mark Gershinson (Hartsbourne)
