County Captain Adam Bridgewater has Channel League matches over the next two weekends - one at home to Somerset and the other away to Gwent.
For the home encounter taking place against Somerset at West Cornwall on Sunday 5th July, Bridgewater introduces some new faces to his team. Host club member Ross Lawrence will make a county debut as will 15 year old St Enodoc junior Alfie Chapman, who has been attracting attention this year with a tumbling handicap allied to a number of good performances in and outside of county. With talisman Matt Richards unavailable due to injury there remains a strong host club presence in Lawrence, Jack Kevern and Ethan Tempest.
The full team to face Somerset is: Billy Downing, Tom Stephens (both Truro),Tempest, Lawrence, Kevern (all West Cornwall), Alfie Chapman (St Enodoc), Jamie Greet, Kyle Fraser (both Mullion), George Law (Perranporth) and Sam Crocker (Carlyon Bay).
The following weekend the Cornwall team will travel to Llanwern to play Gwent. Again Bridgewater introduces another county junior to his team in 17 year old Tiernan Wallwork (Tehidy Park). Other enforced changes see the Perranporth duo of James Ruddick and Joe Ibbs-George return to the side along with Max Gay (Carlyon Bay)
The full team to face Gwent is: Jamie Greet, Kyle Fraser (both Mullion), Gay, Sam Crocker (both Carlyon Bay), Tiernan Wallwork (Tehidy Park), Ruddick, Ibbs-George (both Perranporth), Ethan Tempest, Jack Kevern (both West Cornwall) and Tom Stephens (Truro).
Bridgewater will be hoping to see his teams get some Channel League points on the board after their only match to date resulted in a narrow defeat to Dorset in May.
Wallwork and Chapman are both representing Cornwall in the SWCGA Boys Championship taking place at Perranporth on Thursday 10th July 2025.
