SW Week Day 1 Win for Cornwall
Cornwall got off to a great start in the SWCGA championship matchplay today with a resounding 11.25-2.75 win over Dorset at Cumberwell Park GC, Wiltshire.
Determined to avenge their narrow Channel League defeat to their opponents a few weeks back, Cornwall led 6 - 2 after the morning singles and took 5.25 of the 6 points available in the four afternoon foursomes games.
Whilst there was a lot of good golf, arguably the best result of the day was the foursomes win for Jon Hancock partnered with Ethan Tempest this afternoon. Four down through four holes the pair fought their way back and ultimately claimed a 2&1 win.
Tomorrow (Monday) Cornwall face Somerset with an 8.00am start. Line ups
Somerset were beaten 12.5 - 1.5 by host county Wiltshire today whilst in the other match Gloucestershire beat Devon 10.75 - 3.25.
