At the conclusion of County Week 2025, County Captain Adam Bridgewater named the 10 players to represent Cornwall at this years SWCGA Championship at Cumberwell Park GC, Wiltshire from Sunday 8th - Friday 13th June 2025.
The action gets underway on the Sunday when Cornwall face Dorset in the first of 5 round robin matchplay encounters against the region's other counties. Each of these matchplays features 8 morning singles and four afternoon foursomes games with one point scored for a win in the singles and one and a half points for a win in the foursomes.
Cornwall will be looking for early revenge having lost their first 2025 Channel League match to the Dorset men only a few weeks ago. Up next on the Monday are Somerset followed by Devon (Wednesday), Gloucestershire (Thursday) and Wiltshire (Friday).
In amongst this on the Tuesday is the 36 hole qualifier for the English County Finals which also incorporates the SW Counties Amateur Championship. Each county has to nominate 6 players whose scores will count towards their counties total. The county with the lowest team total will qualify for the county finals.
Current County Champion Louis Archer (St Enodoc) leads the Cornish selection and is joined by clubmate Brandon Armitage. The rest of the team is Matt Richards, Ethan Tempest (both West Cornwall), Sam Crocker (Carlyon Bay), George Law (Perranporth) Jon Hancock (Newquay), Billy Downing, Tom Stephens (both Truro) and Jamie Greet (Mullion).
Cornwall won the English Men's County Finals in 2014 and, whilst unsuccessful in 2016, once again reached the finals.
You will be able to follow scoring from Cumberwell Park on the SWCGA website
