The winning Falmouth team of Theo Davies, Aiden Jones and Theo Hubbard with Junior Organiser Mick Fox

On a cool windy day at Bowood Park, 13 junior teams battled tough conditions

in the England Golf Junior Champion Club Qualifier (Cornwall) yesterday.

The Juniors from Falmouth came out top of the pile with their two best scores from three totalling 76 for a three point winning margin over serial runners up Tehidy Park (73). Third were Mullion on 71. For Falmouth their two scores were made up of a pair of 38s from the two Theo's - Hubbard and Davies. Tehidy Park's total was made up of 38 from Sean O'Mahony to which Freddie Kirkland added 35. For Mullion late replacement Toby Bristow registered a fine 41 points to which Jesse Hosking added 30.

The prize for Falmouth will be a trip to Spalding GC, Lincs in August where they represent Cornwall and compete against other county winners from across England.

Individual Winner Will Dingle (St Enodoc)

Despite those tough conditions there was some very good scoring as 8 of the 47 juniors scored 36 points or better. The best of these came from St Enodoc's in form Will Dingle who scored 42 points to claim an £85 voucher and beat Mullion's Bristow by the one point. Third was Eliza Grubert (St Austell) on 39,  fourth Hubbard (38cb) and fifth O'Mahony (38).

Before presenting vouchers to the top 5 individuals, County Secretary Chris Pountney thanked Bowood Park GC and its staff for allowing the County to stage the competition and for looking after everyone so well. For Falmouth Aiden Jones also thanked the club, all the parents present, without whom they the players would not be able to take part, and also Falmouth's Junior Organiser, Mick Fox.
