New County Secretary Appointed
The Cornwall Golf Union is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Wood as it's Cornwall County Golf General Manager (County Secretary).
Simon, 45 years, has long-term hands-on golf experience with Cornwall going back to between 2009 and 2016 when he was the England Golf Development Officer within Cornwall.
He worked with and was an initial partner in the then Cornwall Golf Partnership, was Secretary of the Devon Golf Alliance for 2 years and is a former PGA Professional and now a member at China Fleet in his home town, Saltash. As a result Simon is well known and has a good working relationship with a lot of our clubs, additionally through his work as the founder of Golf Access, the innovative on course golf coaching programme.
He acquired the Golf Club Managers Association Aspiring Manager status in March of this year and prior to this completed the GCMA Principles of Golf Management.
A start date has yet to be confirmed but it is anticipated Simon will soon begin to work a handover period alongside current County Secretary Chris Pountney.
