Thieves Target Golf Club Trophies in Devon - Cornwall Beware!

As reported by Devon Live (5th April 2025) - A group of thieves ransacked and stole several historical trophies from a golf club in Devon. The perpetrators broke into Teignmouth Golf Club at around 10.20pm on Wednesday, April 2 and made off with multiple trophies and awards.

The club, which celebrated a milestone 100 years in 2024, found the trophy cabinet smashed and raided. Some of the trophies stolen date back almost to the club's inception and many had been donated by loved ones in honour of past members, a spokesperson for the club said.

Devon and Cornwall Police officers arrived shortly after the alarm was triggered but the thieves had already fled the scene. The club has shared CCTV footage of the break-in and hope anyone with relevant information will contact Crimestoppers. The footage shows two people, wearing hoods and masks, smash their ways through the front door window, before picking up an object and breaking the trophy cabinet. The two then proceed to stuff the stolen goods into a sack. The footage lasts around two-and-a-half minutes.

A club spokesman said "We are desperate to get them back and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. The whole club is devastated at the loss of these trophies, as they represent over 100 years of history as well as a sentimental value to many of the members. They are irreplaceable."
