A Team Qualifiers For Finals Day
On a glorious north coast golfing day at Trevose G&CC yesterday the A Team Club Championship Qualifier took place. 15 clubs participated all vying to make the top 4 and another trip to Trevose for the semi-finals in early May.
It was perhaps no surprise the host club topped proceedings as their two counting foursomes strokeplay scores totalled 141 with a great 3 under par 69 from Neil Rowlands & Graham Webb to which was added a level par 72 from Guy Norris & Mark Oliver.
8 shots back came Perranporth with their 149 total made up of a 1 under 71 by Nathan Gilpin & James Ruddick combined with a 78 from George Law & Marc Wilson.
The third qualifying spot on 150 went to West Cornwall as Jack Kevern & Jordan Musitano combined for a 74 and Matt Richards & Ethan Tempest added a 76.
Sneaking into the 4th spot on 151 were last week's Cornwall Team Championship winners Carlyon Bay for whom Ben Armstrong & Steve Waddell returned a 76 and Max Gay & Alec Nile a 75.
Tied with Carlyon Bay on 151, unlucky St Austell lost out by virtue of their team's third card. For St Austell Dan Olver & Ewan Warren registered a 74 with team mates Bradley Varcoe and Paul Edmunds shooting a 77 . But third pair Simon Bertho & Shaun Harvey's 78 was pipped by Carlyon Bays Mark Blaber & Sam Crocker's 77.
The results show how close it was for a number of others as St Mellion (6th) and Bude (7th) finished on 152 and Tehidy Park, Mullion and Truro all stood on 153.
Second best score on the day came from Bude's Laurie Bridges & Ryan Curtis who shot a 2 under 70.
A draw will follow to see who now plays who in the semi finals at Trevose on the last day of County Week 2025, Saturday 3rd May.
