CGU Vice President to Step Down

The Cornwall Golf Union was notified recently by Vice President Alan Creber of his need to step down from the role for health reasons, having recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Alan, a great servant to both his home club Launceston and the county, understandably needs ongoing treatment.

Alan remains upbeat but has expressed his huge disappointment at not being able to take up the County Presidency next month and also being unable to contribute further to the process of unification of the County Ladies Golf Association with the Men's Union.

Nevertheless Alan remains upbeat and is very keen to pass on this message. "1 in 8 men are likely to get prostate cancer and it is the most common cancer in men. If you are over 50 then your risk becomes higher. I would urge you to go and get your PSA level tested."

We all wish Alan the very best!

You can find out much more about the condition and check on your own risk via the Prostate Cancer UK website here
