Reuben Nash - Shares his golfing story
Hello, my name is Reuben Nash and I am a proud member at West Cornwall golf club and this is my story:
August 2024
During the summer, me and my dad would often walk my dog on the beach. I’d often talk about different sports. One day, we were talking about golf, and my dad mentioned that he started playing golf when he was 15 years old. And excitedly, I asked if he still had his old clubs. Fortunately, he said yes, and this marked the start of my journey.
One day, we grabbed the old bag of clubs from the roof and started playing in the field behind my grandma's house. And I was having so much fun hitting each end between the goalposts. That is where my passion started.
September 2024
After practising a lot with adult clubs, my Dad bought my first set of junior golf clubs. I loved them and one day, we decided to visit Hayle Golf. While practising in the outdoor area, Richard Bunch walked over to me and gave me some tips on how to get the golf ball out of the bunker. After a few shots, he invited me to play at the 2024 golf access competition.
I followed his recommendation, and I entered. I played several holes well, against 12 players in my category. However, I didn't know how I did. With a huge surprise at the awards ceremony, Richard later announced that the winner of the golf access competition was Reuben Nash! My body was immediately filled with adrenaline and excitement; still, to this day, I talk about my accomplishments.
February 2025
From the early days of hitting a few balls around to winning the golf access competition, I simply love golf. Supported by the team at West Cornwall Golf Club, you will often see me practising after school and on the weekends. Feel free to join me!
