Cornish Travellers to Champion of Champions Events at Woodhall Spa

The past weekend saw three Cornish players make the long journey to the home of England Golf in Woodhall Spa, Lincs to represent the county at the national governing body’s Champion of Champions events all played over 36 holes on the renowned and tough Hotchkin Course.

The three were Oban Webber (St Mellion) as winner of the 2024 Boys County Championship, Simon Knowles (Perranporth) as Seniors County Champion and Jamie Greet (Mullion) as Mne’s County Champion.

First up on the Saturday Webber did very well to finish tied 11th with rounds of 76 & 80 for a +10 total of 156. This was 12 shots behind winner Harry Cox (Herts).

For Cox this was to be a very special weekend as the following day he took part in the Men’s Champion of Champions competition and became the first person ever to win both Boys and Men’s events. On Sunday he registered scores of 71 & 70 for a 5 under par total of 141 which was matched by 2023 winner Levi Desmond (Lincs). Cox prevailed though at the second playoff hole.
